Reapplicant- How long does the school keep my application record?

Hey guys,
Quick question!
Last time I applied, it was 2 years ago and I didn't get accepted to the schools I applied to.
My question is, how long do they hold my application before they discard it? or do they keep it on file forever and compare it when I reapply?

Also, in the case they don't keep my records, is there anyway they can verify this?
(FYI: I will state on the application that I am a reapplicant)
