I applied very late last cycle (AMCAS verified 10/11) and as a result I only had 2 interviews (1 post-interview rejection at Hofstra, and still waiting to hear back from Albany Medical College). In case I am not accepted to AMC, I am getting ready to reapply in June. I really would prefer to remain in or nearby NYC, so going to school outside of NY or upstate is not for me.

MCAT: 32P (12,9,11)
Undergraduate GPA: 3.07 🙁
Graduate GPA: 3.78
Masters from NYC university, research thesis, second author on future publication
NYS resident, URM (Puerto Rican)

My school list for next cycle is:

Albert Einstein College of Medicine
Hofstra
NYCOM
New York Medical College
NYU
Downstate
Touro College

I will be submitting my primary and secondaries as soon as possible this cycle, but I would like to know what my chances are of an acceptance at these schools.

My application is stronger than it was last year (publication, posters, additional letters of recommendation from people who know me long/better) and I am going to rewrite my PS and other essays.

I did not apply to any DO schools last cycle, but this year I definitely will.

Thanks for any input!! 🙂

Add more MD schools (all of NY)

If you re-apply to the schools you applied this year, you def have to talk about what's changed from then.

IF you only get into an upstate or downstate NY school, would you seriously NOT go and re-apply a third time? Apply as many places as you can afford. Try NJ, RI CT, MA, PA.
