I applied last cycle to 14 schools, currently wait listed at three. At this point I have prepared myself mentally that I will be going through another year of this oh-so-fun and not-at-all-stress-inducing process. I just graduated college in early May, and have secured two part time jobs. One is just a basic scribe position, and the other is as an MCAT instructor for Kaplan. I have great stats (37 MCAT, 4.0 GPA), and decent ECs, I just think that my biggest problem was submitting everything too late (way too late). In rewriting my PS, I am just curious what the best way to address this is. Leadership wasn't my strongest point last cycle, so I plan to write about addressing that with my position as an MCAT instructor, but how do I (should I) address submitting everything too late? Thank you in advance for your help.

October for a couple, November - December for the rest. Interviews in December and January.
This is likely a much greater problem than the leadership not being in your ps.

You had interviews; therefore you harbored interest at more than one school. Had you interviewed earlier, you would have had a far easier time closing the deal.

What you need to focus on in reapplying is what's different between now and last fall? What have you improved upon and how are you any better of an applicant. If working as a tutor is the only change yoy may need to do something extra to get over the reapplication hump.

Right, I know that the late app was by far my greatest drawback, I am just wondering if I need to address that in my PS or not. And as far as what's different, its really only been 5-6 months since I finished my apps, and I was planning on this being my last semester in my current city, so I didn't start any new activities, just focused on finishing school, working, and saving money. I have continued several of my previous activities. Really the only other thing that is new other than the two jobs I am about to start is that I trained for and ran a marathon in the spring and am currently training for a triathlon, but I don't think that's such a huge deal.

yeah I agree with @gonnif and gonnif is the true expert here. I wouldnt even mention my late application in my PS. The PS is a way for you to tell medical schools why medicine, why YOU want to be a doctor. You don't have to explain a late application in there at all. Always remember when you write a PS ask yourself, what would putting this in my PS do for me? What would explaining a late application in your PS do for you about why you chose medicine - not much no?
