Hi Everyone,

So I applied to 25 schools last year and got 6 interviews and am currently on 4 waitlists (I really hope something will work out now, but it's getting very late so I'm not counting on it at all). Anyway, at this point I am planning on reapplying however I'm wondering about when I should do it, either 2010 or 2011?

I have a 31 on the MCAT (from 2009 so it will be okay for the next cycle too) and a 3.7 overall gpa (3.9 science). I just finished up a master's program this past month so now I am planning on getting a job and improving some of my volunteering and doing some additional shadowing, etc over this next year. I have good EC's and very good letters of recommendation.

I think part of my problem last year was that I applied late (Last week of September) and did not get all the secondaries done until early November.

The thing is that most of what I did over the past year was at least mentioned on my application last year so it really wont be significantly changed at all if I were to apply now.

Do you guys think it would be smart to wait and be able to add more and update my app or just go for it now? Any advice would be very appreciated. Thanks.

Also if you think i missed something ask me a question and I'll fill you in.

Thank you so much!!

You could try contacting the schools where you interviewed...some programs give feedback to help you improve your application and/or reasons why they did not accept you.

I would just reapply ASAP. As long as you log some more volunteer hours, I feel like you HAVE improved your application, because you have also finished your master's program. You applied quite late last year, so I think that the fact you even got on 4 wait lists probably shows that you had a good application. I don't think it will HURT your application if you wait, but I'd only do that if you really want to wait/delay going to med school.

You should only reapply this year if you are really going to give it 100% effort, though.
