It's good to be back guys! I had a splendid vacation! I got a tan, watched some basketball, spent time with the hubby and kids, played "Go Fish" 5000 times with my daughter, and got my car detailed. Life was good! I even forgot about this hideous process of applying to medical school!

I'm so proud of everyone. I used to be able to keep up with all the acceptances, but there are so many, I've lost track!  That's a great sign. Alas, there were no acceptances in my box, but there were some nifty catalogues 🙂. I am keeping the faith and not feeling too bad about the situation. I am definitely doing better than last year.

Well, it's April, and May will be here before we can blink. I need to start thinking about when I'm going to retire this thread. I honestly believe that every one of us will be med students next year.

For all of us on the waitlist, don't stress too much. We'll be fine. For everyone with acceptances...GREAT JOB!! Here's to a great month!

Peace,

mrsmac

Here here!

I can't believe it's already April! I'll be quitting my job(s) in a few months when I will hopefully have figured out where I'm going to school. Then it's off to my vacation in Egypt-- a last opportunity to blow my savings before my wallet becomes property of the government, hehe.

Anyone else planning any blow-out celebrations before locking on the med school shackles? And I know every one of us in here will have shackles to speak of come June...

Stay positive guys...I have one acceptance, but there are still schools, where I interviewed, and still have not heard from yet.

Keep the faith, and DO NOT GIVE UP...My 4th application was the charm...yep, it took 4 apps over a 10 year period! Please allow that to keep you inspired to make YOUR dream a reality.

Hey guys,

Wheww this thread is dusty!!  Still here...waiting... 😎 😴

Hey, Mrsmac:

How are you? You are waiting to hear from teh schools at which you interviewed, right? Have you called or anything? I'm still waiting to hear from my top choice, and I'm getting annoyed. You seem to be far more patient than I am 🙂). I know that you're going to get good news....it's just a matter of WHEN. Hang in there & keep the faith!!

Waiting as well. Here's to everyone keeping sane over the next 2 months!!

wow, i like this forum. the people here are much nicer than the ones in the pre-allo. i'm a third time applicant, waiting to hear from the one school i interviewed with, so i guess i belong here. best of luck to all of you!

Welcome Bill!

Hi there BH! Yes, I'm still waiting to hear from the schools where I interviewed. Patient...I wouldn't say that. However, a little drink called an apple martini is helping me through the process (along with a lot of prayer!). 🙂 And it could be worse. My best friend is applying to graduate school for her PhD in history and she applied to Harvard, UPenn, NYU and Columbia. She's been rejected two of them, and one of her professors didn't even send in the letter of recommendation he promised, so Harvard didn't even look at her application! She's a Fulbright Scholar and went to Brown for her Masters!! 😱 So, I figure is she is getting rejected, then I need count my blessings for even being on a waitlist. So, I guess it's a matter of perspective. I hope you hear from your school soon!!!

thanks for the welcome mrsmac 🙂

so i received quite a scare today. i got home and found an extremely thin envelope from the one school i interviewed with in my mailbox. :scared: i could feel my knees begin to weaken and buckle the instant i saw it. as it turns out, it was one of those "we made an initial review of your application, but have not yet made a final decision" letters. bad news, but not the horrible news that i was expecting. i really wish they had just sent an email or something. don't they know what seeing a thin envelope does to an applicant? sigh. sorry, just had to share that with someone.

*i must remain optimistic. i must remain optimistic. i must remain optimistic*

Welcome Bill! I, too, am not a fan of thin envelopes. They really do have a paralyzing effect (especially for a reapplicant). Here's to thicker, longer, wider, bigger, and deeper envelopes! 👍

Hey guys and welcome Bill! 🙂

I can't believe it's already April... well, April 19th! The cycle is almost over and I can't believe how fast it went by. It sure didn't feel like things were going fast when I was desperately waiting for interviews and then for decisions! 😡

So, I finally heard back from Dratmouth and got wailisted. Thank God, I'm not really upset. It hurts my ego, of course, but it doesn't really bother me that much. In fact, I think I'll probably withdraw very soon and set myself free! 😀 I really do like Penn State much better, so I'm just glad I have my acceptance there.

Still waiting to hear from one school post-interview (UVM) and 2 schools pre-interview... what a joke! NYMC and UMD have still not said a word since November... I'm going to withdraw from those schools, too.

So... I'm basically waiting on UVM and then I'm done. Very nice feeling! 👍

To those of you still waiting like mrsmac, don't lose up and don't stress out. Things will start moving soon with people withdrawing and dropping multiple acceptances. Keep praying and/or crossing your fingers! :luck: :luck:

As someone who went through the application process twice and spent an enormous amount of time, money and emotion doing so, I clearly remember how painful that process was. I just wanted to post on this thread to reaffirm that you should NEVER give up. Four years later, I am graduating from med school and getting ready to start my surgical residency. I don't regret for a moment anything I went through to get to this point. It was all worth it.......good luck!!

hey guys ive got no acceptances and am a reapplicant. im on 8 waitlists however..man this sucks..someones gotta let me in

Arrgghh... I'm sorry to hear that. 🙁

It really sucks to be in limbo. But, on the bright side, you have a very very good chance of getting in! It might just take longer. Don't lose up. :luck:

I agree with KitKat. Your chances are very good, but it SUCKS having to wait. When I (we) get off of these friggin waitlists, I'm going to start "WA" club at my school (Waitlist Anonymous)😀 Don't give up. At least we haven't been rejected!

mrsmac

Hey Buddies,

UVM waitlisted me... maybe I should join that WA club...

Well, I withdrew from all my other schools and this means that I am officially *done* and going to Penn State next year!! 😀 Just wanted to thank everybody for their support. You guys were all awesome!! Best of luck to all of you still waiting. :luck:

wow kikat, it must feel great to be completely done. i can only hope that the rest of us will join you in that category soon. congrats on your success with the application process, and knock em dead at penn state next year!
