Happy New Year!!!

I was just going back through this site and realized that it's been 6 MONTHS since I first asked for a reapplication buddy. Wow, time sure has flown by. You guys have been a great support system, and you guys have hung in through the thick and thin times. Anyway, I look forward to the day when I can "sign off" , and head toward the medical school student thread. But alas that time has not come yet, because I have ...not heard a *&%# thing from any of my other schools. 😡 .

Alright, enough venting. Man, things are really buzzing around here. So many people have had interviews (me, docsean, BH, kitkat37, ma-bas;accepted too-our first 👍 ) and so many others I can't remember. We just need to be patient and keep ourselves from going crazy. I'm working full time now and that does seem to help-NOT. It only provides a way for me to get online even quicker to check my email. I've started working out to vent some steam and that is going well. We were buried under 24 inches of snow during the holidays, and I got to go sledding for the first time in my my life. 👍 After two wipe outs, I thought I might be getting too old for this. 👎 . Anyway, post those interview experiences people and let us know how things went. I am sure that everyone did well and we'll hear some positive news in the near future.

Peace,
mrsmac

Mrsmac, you're never too old to go sledding!

So here I am back in NYC after 2 weeks of blissful vacation out of the country. Silly me thought I'd come back to gobs of mail and email from med schools, but nothing. They must've been on vacation too. Fingers crossed for a happy result from the school I interviewed at mid-December.

Here's to an incredible active and productive new year, all you reapps. :luck:

yah definately, if you're re-applying to the same schools, i would call the office and just ask for an update. maybe find out if they're sending out intervew invites soon. It's always a good idea to be refered to by your first name in that office. that's where the phone calls help. gluck all. i was in your position as well.

This site is helpful because it has great info, but also because you get to see people as frustrated as you are.

I'm an August MCATer and was complete at most of my schools by November. It's already the start of January and I have yet to hear anything from any school--only that I've been complete and a hold from Albany. No rejections yet.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the UC schools. I'm a Californian with decent stats from a good undergrad university. Still, no love. Keep me updated guys!

Hey buddies,

Everyone must be busy with those interviews! Just wiping the dust off this thread

I'm so excited to be able to post this incredible news for fellow reapplicants to see. I am now official proof that it can be done! I recieved an acceptance from Boston University on Monday! 😱

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the rest of you out there. There's still plenty of time, it's very early yet so hang in there!!! :luck:

Congrtats there Cammy. Way to go you give us all hope!!! Anyway it seems that things seem to come in bunches from med schools. Checked my mail both snail and e and found two interview requests awaiting me! how about that, had given up the hope of other interviews. So to those out theere still without interviews hold on its still midway through interview season there are months to go! everyone wish me luck am off to interview at my #1 school next Wed. Good luck to all the re-apps out there, may the next month bring us many more acceptances!

Good job guys! 🙂 Hey doctorsean, where did you get invites from? I'm working on an update letter and trying to get another recommendation out now. I'm still hoping to get my first interview.

CONGRATS, Cammy!!!   That's awesome! Must be a great feeling! 🙂

Nothing on my side... NOTHING, no letters, no emails, no phone calls, no rejections, no holds, no interviews... I'm losing my sanity... +pity+

First and only interview coming up in two weeks. By the way, if you guys have any tips, PLEASE send them my way! Thanks :luck:

Congrats!!!!! 👍 👍 :hardy:  That's great! It must be a great load off your shoulders!!

docsean & kitkat, good luck on those interviews :luck: :luck: I'm sure you guys will do great. Relax and enjoy the ride. BUT...don't forget to prepare (articles on healthcare, info on the school, examples in your life that helped you shape your desire to pursue medicine ). Just my advice. Of course, I have yet to be accepted, but hey what the heck

Congrats and good luck guys!

in addition to those, I always go over my personal statements, both secondary from school and amcas, look at app and think of things they might pick at, bad grade in class, etc. also if you know anyone who went to said school or is going to said school, it is a good idea to pick their brain to see one how they feel about school and any recommendations they can offer about the interview.
i have interviewed at mizzou,so. ill., un of iowa. my new ones are at un of IL, St. louis U, and Rush univ.
good luck to all, its down hill from here!

this sucks i've been waitlisted at every school ive interviewed at

Mrsmac and Doctorsean,

thanks so much for your help! You guys are awesome!!! 😍

I am WAY too stressed out about this interview. But, that's my only one and I don't wanna blow it. OMG! A terrible thought crossed my mind... If I don't do well and don't get in, I might have to apply AGAIN, for the THIRD time!!!!!!!! 😱 😱 😱

<crossing fingers for all of us re-applicants> :luck:

hey everyone

for those of you who have been here from the beginning, then you may remember me...... i posted a long time ago saying i was a part of you, then posted right around MCATs and have been AWOL since. a lot of that is the part of me that was really really upset at this whole process and couldnt stand to even think about it (i think i went over 3 months without logging on to SDN).

so i just thought that i would throw in my 2 cents now that my aggravation at the process has lessened, and can now stand to read the message boards (i had one PM from like October when I logged in for the first time in the end of December - haha)

anyways.
rejections still sting. nevermind how many you get. i thought i was immune to them by now. but no. One school rejected me today (or, I found out today by logging into the application page, thinking something may have changed, even though I was under the impression that they emailed me everytime something changed. thats how it worked last year when I interviewed there). So that one sucks a lot, especially since I interviewed there last year, and didn't even get a secondary from them this year.

but today I also received some good news. this is probably the first good news i have seen in this process since September... 2003. (yes, 2003). But I got 2 (yes, 2) interviews today. One from Maryland (I'm a resident) and EVMS (I interviewed there last year as well) They aren't until March, so I feel like the news is really good... but at the same time I am a little nervous that I might be at a huge disadvantage interviewing so late.

So I finally have interviews for this cycle. Here's to hoping that more will be rolling my way... and if not, here's to hoping that I can mop up some interview action and get some acceptance action.

I have looked thru all the posts and I am really happy for all you guys who have had interviews, acceptances and the like. And for those of you out there like me, who can't stand to even post on these boards anymore, I feel your pain. We are in this together. It's a rough and tumble world out there, but we'll prevail. Stay positive... if its meant to be, then so it will be. Good luck!!!

Hi wait,

thanks for replying to my PM about UMD and good to see you on the re-applicants' forum! 🙂

As you can see, I'm here as well. And, I totally understand everything you said about being sick and tired of this process... to the point of not even being able to log on and read posts! 😱

But, you have some interviews and I have one. Hopefully, they will be followed by acceptances and all this crap will be over! Then, we will be able to leave this forum forever and never think about it again!!

In the meantime, gluck to everyone and please keep posting! :luck:

Good to hear from you again Wait! We have definitely missed your input! I also echo KitKat. This is a soul searching, back-breaking and at times dehumanizing experience, but in the process I must admit I've learned a lot more about myself. There are times when I just want to forget that I even applied. Then, add to it the friends and family questions, "Have you heard anything...yet??" "Why are you doing this when you have a good job and a wonderful family?" "Aren't you too old for this?" 😱 It seems a bit overwhelming at times. But I am so thankful for this group. You keep me sane. I realize that I am in the company of great people and great future docs. Wait, so don't feel bad about posting good or bad things. That's why I started this thread 🙂 Good luck to you and KitKat on your interviews and just do your best. Lay it all out there with no regrets!

Peace,
mrsmac

You guys remember to remind me of this as May approaches!!

Greetings All,

I am a newbie to the site, and I am relieved to see that others are also pulling their hair out over this process! Is that a little sadistic? At any rate, I am still waiting for an acceptance myself. 3 wait lists, 1 rejection, and countless that have yet to reply. Argh! 😡 I need to keep reminding myself that I am still in a very positive position, but it's simply torturous to play the waiting game! I am glad to see that others are feeling similarly.

Recently I was extended a second interview to a school, which does not happen that often. I am wondering if anyone has heard of this 😕 My first interview for this school was not exactly stellar, but I was placed on their waiting list. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated 😀

Good luck to everyone!

I've never heard of the second interview thing...but it sounds like a GOOD thing!

My advice for interviews is...DON'T BE BASHFUL!

Show off. Share your insights. Talk about your experiences...what you learned from them...how that will make you a better doctor.

I also think it's good to mimic the posture of your interviewer. On one of my first interviews...I sat up straight (a little nervous...didn't want to wrinkle my suit) and my interviewer commented that I seemed a little stiff! Me? Stiff? Anyway, since then I've formulated my theory on the posture thing. When they lean back...I lean back.

I love my reapplicants...we've worked hard to get where we are AND where we want to be!

Yes we have worked hard! They are obviously still interested in me if they are offering another round, I am simply curious why they might do that. From what the admissions office tells me, it is to clear up any questions that remain unresolved, etc. etc. I usually interview quite well, so it was a shock when the initial interview fell short of my expectations. We simply did not connect as I had hoped.

I must go back and vanquish!

Hi everyone,

Just bumping before february rolls around and we start a new thread. 😉

How is everyone doing? Any good news? Acceptances? More interviews?

I went to my first interview a few days ago and I think it went "okay". Not great, but probably ok. I can't really judge anyway since I have nothing to compare my performance to... Crossing fingers and hoping for an acceptance! 🙄

Other than that, just got a second interview invite! Am very excited; hope it's not for the waitlist!!

Gluck everyone and keep us updated! :luck: :luck: :luck:

Hey Peeps!

I don't think I have posted the whole month. I'm just trying not to obsess anymore. I got waitlisted at Buffalo and rejected from Einstein pre-interview (where I was waitlisted last year). Other than that, no news. There are still so many schools that I haven't heard a word from. Just reject me already!

Nah, jk. Keep up your spirits everyone. Pretty soon we can change this thread to the former re-applicants thread.

I'm turning 30 in February. Here's to being a 30 y.o. med student! I'm going to party like I'm 22.

Good morning Buddies,

Happy Love Month!! 😍 😍 It seems that things are slowing down on this thread. Granted, I haven't posted in awhile  Anyway, I've decided to keep this thread until March, since Feb is so short. I hope everyone is doing well. I still haven't heard from my other schools, yet the panic hasn't set in yet. I'm keeping myself busy by working and starting my FAFSA (reminder to you guys!), and planning a Super Bowl Party!!. I guess I'm always the optimist. Hopefully, those of you who just finished interviews will hear something shortly. I do believe that the spring is going to be one to remember! Well, I'll keep you guys posted on my progress. Good luck everyone. :luck: :luck:

GO EAGLES!!!

Hello fellow re-apps!!

I've also been taking a break from SDN. My home computer went kaput, so that makes it easier. I'm very happy to see acceptances from others (cammy, etc.) and glad that everyone is keeping their spirits up as they interview. I have some good news to add: I was accepted at Stony Brook last week -- yipee! This was one of the 2 schools where I was waitlisted last year, and I really liked it, so I'm very happy. Hope this serves as encouragement to others!

Ma-bas: Sorry to hear about Buffalo (although waitlist is a good thing!) and Einstein. I was also WL at Einstein last year, and haven't heard anything from them, which I find very strange. Who knows! Also, I'm turning 35 (!!) at the end of this week (and would party like a 22-yr. old if I could! 😀 ) Happy b-day!

I have an interview at my top choice is about 2 weeks, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Please everyone, hang in there and know that it will work out for us determined folks!

BH

Bunsen Honeydewm you kick a$$! Congrats on your acceptance, and Happy Birthday to you too, fellow Aquarian!

I'm cool about the Buffalo WL. I had kinda decided I didn't want to move that far, cuz that would mean moving my husband too. I'm happier to stay in a 2 hour radius so I can go home every weekend.

Love and luck to all 😍

Congrats BH!! 👍  You do kick a$$! And another thing...here I was thinking I was the oldest one here (at 30). BH, you must think I'm just a kid! You are my hero! Ma-bas, don't feel too bad about the waitlist, at least you get to stay close to home. I might be looking at being 4-5 hrs away from my family, when I am accepted (postitive thinking). Oh well, congrats again BH, and good luck on the interview coming up. Knock 'em dead! :luck: :luck:

Woa... So, I got 3 rejections this week. Two yesterday and one today. This is starting to hurt... 🙁 🙁 🙁

Other than that, waiting to hear back from one interview and one more to go to in March. Nothing else. No other interviews and no acceptances. Panic is starting to settle in... slowly, but surely.

I have a wierd feeling in my stomach whenever the dreaded question crosses my mind: what if I don't get in this year again? 😱 😱

Arrgghh. Feeling a little crappy. Sorry, buddies. Just needed to share it with people who can understand. You guys are great support! 👍
