What are my chances? I am a reapplication with 493 MCAT 3.52 cgpa tons of volunteer work (clinical and non clinical), currently at CDC doing research, completed summer research program (REU), college athlete, shadowed 5 physicians, great letters of rec, Vice President of AMSA (undergrad chapter)

I feel like that MCAT is going to close a lot of doors for you with an otherwise stellar app. I would fix your MCAT before applying (wait til next cycle and apply early in the cycle), everything else looks great. If you adequately prepare there's no reason you shouldn't do much better on the test.

Thanks! I applied to this upcoming cycle. I’m kind of just waiting to see what happens. In the mean time I’m a applying to mph/PhD programs as well. Once the new year comes I’m going to start studying for the MCAT again.

Did you apply DO? Your GPAs are below average for MD and your MCAT is not competitive for MD at all. In fact it's not really competitive for most DO schools. Your ECs look great. Are you a reapplicant now or will you be next cycle? The main thing schools expect with reapplicants is significant improvement in the application. Why did you apply with such a low MCAT?

I did apply to DO programs as well. This is my 2nd time applying. I applied with such a low MCAT because I have faith. If I never would have at least tried I would be regretting it. The worst thing they could say is no, and IF that happens I will try again.

How did you improve your application since the first time you applied? Did you apply with the 493 las time or is this a new score? If it’s new, what was your first score? Where did you apply? When were you complete and where is your residency? Are you UIM? If so what group do you represent?

There is no way you are getting into any kind of medical school with those stats. Maybe if you had a 3.8 GPA, but anything 495 and below without a redeeming other factor is lethal.

If you are into sports, I suggest looking into podiatry school.

If this isn't a troll: the MCAT is atrocious and shuts lots of doors. The GPA is low for MD schools. Retake and get a 508+ if you want to go to a DO school. 513+ for an MD school. Good luck.
