Hi everyone! I have a question if I should reapply or not. My last application was in the 2024-2025 cycle with these stats.

MCAT: 490 (123/123/121/121), 495 (125/123/124/123)
GPA: Cumulative: 3.82, science: 3.78
I am a NJ resident, ORM, traditional applicant.
ECs (when i applied): Clinical job: ~300 hours, shadowing: 80 hours (MD and DO), non-clinical volunteering: ~1300 hours.
Research: 3 posters, 1 publication, ~ 600 hours on multiple projects
LORs: 6 strong and positive - 2 science professors, 2 non science professors, 1 job supervisor, 1 DO physician.

I applied to 17 DO schools, got interviews from 5 (LMU DCOM, Burrell, VCOM, LECOM, and KCU) I got one acceptance from LMU DCOM and I'm currently on the waitlist at Burrell, VCOM, and LECOM.

The reason I am asking if I should reapply is because I did not have much hope for this cycle, so I started to study for the MCAT again. I took it on 3/21 and received my score yesterday, 502 (127/125/125/125).

I would really appreciate it if anyone could advise me if I should apply again to schools closer to home such as Rowan-Virtua SOM, NYITCOM, Touro, PCOM, etc as I did not receive interviews from them in my first cycle.

If I reapply, I would be using the same LORs, but I would have more hours in all aspects, I have a scribe job lined up starting in June, and my cumulative GPA will be 3.83.

Thank you so much I really appreciate any advice.

Update those WL schools with the new score. Start preparing to reapply but if you get in, go. Especially lecom

Okay! Thank you for your response! I have an acceptance from LMU DCOM and WL at LECOM-Elmira and VCOM-LA. I just sent the update to LECOM

I would say for me LECOM>LMU but other than that I’d say go. A 502 is better but doesn’t guarantee a closer acceptance. And it’s not enough competitiveness to push you to reapply MD

Agree with updating your waitlist schools now!

and also agree that a 502 would get you an interview at almost every DO school if you reapply next year?

You should shoot an email to all 17 schools for your new MCAT score, you never know miracle happens. If nothing happens then wait for next cycle. With your new score 502 your chances are good with your high GPA for DO.

OP, agree with is 1000%!
With the DO cycle getting extended, you may get more IIs, even at my school!

@Goro Thank you so much for your response! If I give up my LMU acceptance, will I be blacklisted from all schools if I reapply with my new 502 score? Will AACOMAS show to the schools that I apply to in the 25-26 cycle that I have been accepted to LMU in the 2024-2025 cycle? Also, what school is yours?

No. That's an old myth that you'd be blacklisted from everywhere. The only place you'd be blacklisted would be LMU. Be careful, though. A better score is not a guarantee compared to the guarantee you currently have
