Is it permitted to re-apply into American medical school while in a foreign medical school? I have an acceptance to Ross, but I really want an American degree. I don’t know how they would see this, or how I would be able to get over for an interview. Is it even worth all the stress?

Okay, one of the great things about Caribbean schools is that they start at different times of the year. I would really just defer Ross, and keep trying to get into a medical school in the US, whether it be an allopathic or osteopathic school.

I really can't comment about the pssibilities about reapplying once in a foreign medical school.

I forgot, have you already applied to US medical schools? Did you try to get any feedback on what you can do to strengthen your application? I've heard that some schools are very forthcoming and willing to help in this manner.

If you really want to study medicine in the states, then you shouldn't go to a caribbean. Don't settle! Yea, it's hard to wait, but you might end up regretting your choice and as a result, it will affect how well you do in the caribbean. What are your stats? Did you apply to the caribbean because of your grades? Have you thought about osteopathic schools? Are you an international student?

agree with dangit.
It may become harder for all international students to get a US residency in future years, since US medical schools (MD and DO) are increasing their number of admitted students these past few years, while residency programs have not expanded. They might, but nobody really knows...

I believe there are a small number of Caribbean medical students who are US citizens who manage to transfer back into the US and finish med school here, but that number is tiny. I personally have never met someone who successfully did this...most medical schools in the US either take no transfer students, or do so only under very very limited circumstances. Certainly you should not go to Ross or any other Caribbean school with the thought that you'll likely be able to transfer out. You should either not go at all, or go with the realization that that is where you are going to finish your degree.

Please tell us whether you've ever applied to US schools, and if you did not, then why not?
