I did not match this year, have graduated and will be doing a masters in the meantime while I reapply. I want to do EM and everything is EM based on my ERAS. I am also interested in psych as a backup. However, if I decide to apply to some psych programs, I will have not one elective or LOR from Psych. I have an average grade in my 3rd year psych clerkship. Am I completely screwed then? I am a DO graduate.

Thanks.

sweet, where are you located? Does your school have an affiliation with an EM program? Have you thought of emailing/calling some EM guys a teaching hospitals and ask for some advice? Esp a toxicology service would be good. Having some toxicology experience is a plus. Even if you are just "shadowing". You can essentially use this whole year learning more about toxidromes then use that as a selling point on your masters.

How much out of classroom time do you have with a masters? Also, contact a poison control center too. I think this will give you a good experience because not all EM have toxicology guys coming through so your added knowledge is a plus 🙂

what is your masters in?

The toxicology will also be helpful if you are going for psych because a lot of suicides are from people who ingest a variety of substances.

You need to think outside the box and set yourself apart. I truly think this will set you apart. Let me know where you are located. I did an EM/Tox rotation and the guys I were with were awesome!! Everyone was real down to earth, helpful, easy to get along with, willing to help in any way.

hope it works out.
