I have heard many discussions regarding reapplying to pharmacy residency positions, but I would like to raise the question about reapplying to pharmacist positions.

This is my example: I interviewed for a job back in March, was actually called back for a second interview, and then never heard anything from them again. I wouldn't have even finished my residency for another 3-4 months, so I'm guessing that they hired someone who would have been available sooner. (Although I could be totally wrong on this). Anyway, I saw today that the same exact position was posted again. I'm not even sure that this is something I would be interested in at this point, but it got me thinking.

Is it worth applying to a job that you previously applied to or interviewed at and were rejected? Has anyone got a job that they were previously rejected from?

I applied for a position 2-3 times during and right after residency, and never got called back. I applied again a year later, and got invited to a final round interview. I should know in a few days to a week whether I got the job or not.

Then again, I also applied to another position during residency and got invited for a final round interview and was rejected, and applied again recently and got a rejection e-mail a day after my application was submitted.

It all depends on the position.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I expect that it varies depending on the position, organization, and situations involved...just looking for some insight from those who have done it before!

I don't see the harm in it. The worse that can happen is they ignore your application and don't call you. I would assume that if they called you back for a 2nd interview, that you had a lot of what they were looking for, but someone else had more. In other words, you probably have a good chance at the job by applying again.

Yes, I got a job once that I had previously been rejected at (although the time between interviews was almost 15 years, so obviously my resume was quite different at that point.) I had a friend who interviewed at a place 3 times before she got the job.

Lots of places only hold on to applications for 6 months, so if you are still interested, you need to reapply. Just because they didn't pick you the first time around, doesn't mean they won't another time. Sometimes the competition is just more stiff.

Go ahead and reapply. There isn't any harm in doing so.
