So i'm on the waitlist for a few schools, but at this point im not placing any bets on them and going to reaaply to be on the safe side.

im applying to 20 schools this round

here are my stats
dat aa/ts/pat 20/21/19
gpa/sgpa/bcp 3.54/3.37/3.4

I'm retaking the dat on the 28th of this month, aiming for 22+.

My question: Should i take any post bacc classes summber b or fall? Is it worth it to raise my gpa at all at this point? Im applying within the first week of june, will dental schools even see any of the grades i get in these classes? im thinking even if i take classes they prob wont be able to see it till academic update, right?

currently im thinking to wait till i take my new dat, then depending on how i do ill make the decesion then whether or not to take classes.

any inputs appreciated.

Are you positive you should re-take your DAT?

Did you apply early this previous cycle?

Do you have shadowing experience?

Do you have volunteer experience?

Did you apply to intelligent schools that accept students in your range and are OOS friendly?

It seems like you may have gotten an acceptance with your stats if you have all the other things going for you.

Maybe you simply need to change your strategy?

the main problem was my application had a few errors which weren't addressed. plus, it got held back a few extra months due to some transcript issues. i dont think i applied smartly too (OOS friendly schools). agree i need to change my strategy, but just wanted some second opinons whether i should take classes or not.

After knowing now that you can improve your app from last year, IMO if you apply well, you will likely get in with or without post-bacc work.

However, you may be smart to enroll in a summer class and a couple fall classes. If they are high level bio classes they will prepare you for DS and in the unlikely event you don't get in, they will help you for the next cycle.

I guess you could also update your application with the new grades once they come in, summer session grades will hit at the end of July which isn't that late.

As far as retaking the DAT, I would think long and hard before you do. I think you have good scores, they are certainly better than your GPA and might already be the strength of your application (assuming you don't have individual scores below 17).
