Reasonably priced hotels for TOUROCOM-NY interview???

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just got an interview invite for Touro-NY. I know its gonna be expensive. Any recommendations?

Call up hotels around the way, don't rely on the net. You'd be surprised at the deals.

real recommendation: go look for a hotel someplace interesting: SoHo, williamsburg, Astoria. The midtown hotels will kill you with their prices, and they have some sort of deal with the Aloft hotel (which, I hear, is an awesome hotel) but its still damn expensive too.

Anyplace in NYC that has a subway can get you there as there are 9 trains (specifically the 2,3,4,5,6,A,B,C, or D trains) within a short walk of the school. And since there are so many, pretty much any subway your hotel might be near, except the G (which is a BK/Queens only line), will get you there within one connection. And the subways are fast as all hell, especially if you catch an express. Go out and take this opportunity to 1) save money and 2) see some place besides midtown and harlem. You'll be in the city after the interview, you'll get to see both places.

I live in astoria, the thing is your probably going to land in La guardia, if your landing in NYC typicall and the area isn't the best depending on the position but who cares.

Before you fly in, there littereally countless of spots for you to get, but youve got to do the calling based on where you landing. If your renting then its not a problem.

Stay away from the city if you plan on leasing a car, you won't find parking easily and you may risk denting etc or worse getting the car towed, it cost's no joke close to 400 bucks to get the damn car out.

if your leasing, it wont matter, but stay away from the city
If your using public transportation, sit and down and start calling. Look for package deals like mentioned above find a spot close to transportation. if your going to get back to the airport especially Lagurdia, the bus literally drops you off in front of the terminal door!

It really isin't a big deal with respect to area, its not like your going to stay long, stay low key, don't bring anything you cant carry with out, leave nothing in the hotel room, and don't attract attention.

Ive lived all sorts of colorful places in NYC my entire life from group homes, half way homes, to the projects..

I have some friends who live in Williamsburg - it's a pretty nice place, stay there if you can! It's a different view of NYC than you would get otherwise.
