Hello,
I just received my first intervew request from my top choice--Touro!!!😱
So after kinda getting over the initial excitement, I've started to freak out. I mean this is my top school choice and its also my first interview--I'm just a nervous wreck!

I want to start preparing for the questions but don't know were to start. I read that there is an interview feedback forum or something but where is it?? I haven't seen it yet.

Does anyone have any advice on what else I should be doing to prepare? If you know about touro or have interviewed there already, any advice would be greatly appreciated. What kind of essay did you have to write? I don't know if I should start to practice writing essays...

thanks in advance.

1) should a pharmacist recommend nutrional supplement? why or why not and support your arguments (essay)
2) if there were only 1 spot left, why should we pick u over the other 9 applicants?
3)Why pharmacy?
4) if a patient wanted a drug that u were morally against, what would you do?
5) how would u contribute to the pharmacy profession
6) why touro?

One of the advantages that Touro has that most pharmacy school don't have is the connection that Dean Knapp brought with her when she took the reigns of the college. Her connection with Kaiser is what is going to make the rotations at Touro awesome. I would definitely ask about that.

Otherwise, just be honest with your answers and communicate yourself clearly. communication is vital in these interviews and you're ability to project yourself as proactive and charismatic is what's going to get you a reserved spot in the fall.

GL.

Good luck! If you still have not found the feedback interview link, it is the second link from the top under the Pharmacy tab (between Optometry and podiatry).

Don't forget to envision yourself knocking their socks off! 😉

Just relax and good luck!

Do they really ask stuff like this? What are some things you can say about this? I'm thinking...They should recommend the supplements based upon the patient's situation and history. If the patient actually needs it because he doesn't or cannot obtain a nutritional variety of food, then you should give it to him.

This is odd though, what would they test with a question like this? Morality?

Yes, touro is very big on questions like those. I feel like this question comes up in many of their interviews. they are also big on ethics for some reason.

What i did to get familiar with this is to read articles on pharmacist.com and look for old articles that talk about ethics, ie birth control. I have a bs in nutrition so i answered it from my standpt. i forgot what i said but since u'r interviewing in a group, just try to say something that no one has said. I know that sounds hard but it's not. As other ppl are answering, you have time to think of what you can say instead of feeling pressured to answer right away. You may also think of new ideas as you listen to your group members.

The interviewers were REALLY nice so that made me feel my answers were always accepted and not necessarily right or wrong.

if you're currently working at a pharmacy, talk to your pharmacist about ethics. ppl in my group just kinda gave both sides to the ethics story and summed it by saying their not sure would they would do exactly, which is fine.

Also, an important note about grp interview is that you shouldn't always be the first to talk or last to talk. they want to see if you are respectful of your peers by taking turn answering the questions b/c touro is also big on teamwork and teambuilding.

Yes....nutritional supplements are a big part of medicine (bad part????) these days. They have significant drug interactions and some are actually used as therapeutic medications (pyridoxine & cyanocobalamin).

Morality - hmmmm have you read anything at all about Plan B????

You need to get some more of your research going.....read some thread on this forum. Read some on Topics in Healthcare. Read some news articles on medications/medicine/medical interventions. So..when the time comes, you're ready with what you believe.

Yeah you guys make good points. I'm not applying to Touro, but I'm thinking this kind of thing may come up in my school interviews too.
