Does received/application complete status without interview invites mean silent rejection?...

I dont't so because I received verified email from one of my schools couple weeks before getting an interview. I think it's just letting you know that your app will now be in the reviewing pile versus still waiting for more materials

I hope that's the case. Wouldn't it say either "received/under review" or "received/awaiting additional information" though?

I believe it goes "Verified" -> "Received/Under Review" -> "App Complete" -> back to "Received/Under Review" -> "Invited to Interview"
Also, I don't think you should focus too much on the status up on AADSAS. Schools aren't very adamant on having it updated. Just make sure you get "App complete" emails from schools; after that, sit tight and wait as patiently as you can.

It should not say "awaiting additional information" if it's complete. Otherwise that status means it's on hold until they receive whatever they are waiting for (official DAT scores, last LOR, supplemental fee payment, etc.). I agree, "received/under review" sounds more promising than "received/application complete," but I feel that not every school finds updating every individual AADSAS status too important. I think it's better to watch your emails overall and for any schools with their own portal, keep checking in there to see if any updates are made (I found out I could schedule an interview date in the portal before I ever received the email notice).
