I did consider this, and I am glad you brought it up. Do you think any of the other courses I have taken will count in that writing-intensive category to fulfill the year long requirement?
Haven't a clue. Not my area of expertise.

That is why I said some school specifically require ENGLISH. Since you need to be prepared to apply to broadest array of medical school, a full year of english should be considered a premed requirement
