I don't know if this is a silly question or not, but here goes:

I have a close friend (for about 10 years) who is MSII at one of my top choices. He wants to write me a letter of recommendation to this school. Are recommendation letters from friends considered acceptable? (I already have the committee letter and DO letter)

No, they're not. Your friend should know better.

I'd say not unless the school requests or looks favorably on a "peer" letter

So, I will call the admissions office of this specific school and find out. Thanks for the advice.

Does anyone else have any ideas/experience with this?
