Hello!
I am just confused about the process regarding to the recommendation letter.
Here is my understanding of general process (please do CORRECT ME if I am wrong with some points):

1. Ask Prof/dentist for ref letter.
2. Prof/dentist writes the letter.
3. I receive one paper copy of sealed letter (?)
4. Wait till the application cycle opens
5. Get the 'match form(?)' from my AADSAS account (?)
6. The prof/dentist receive email to verify the letter
7. done

Is my understanding correct?

There are a couple things you can have the professor/dentist do. You can either have them upload their letter directly to AADSAS (which was the way I did it), or have them mail a sealed letter with a matching form. You could also go through your school's committee to have them compile your letters as well if you have that option. By uploading directly to AADSAS, you just add your professor/dentist to the evaluator list on the application and they get an email/link to upload their letter :)

Most people skip the paper process and just do it electronically.

1. Ask for letter.
2. Wait for cycle to open.
3. Enter letter writer name/email/info into AADSAS.
4. They receive email with link to upload letter. They upload letter.
5. Done.

The matching form is mainly used for transcripts.

Oh, so I don't even need to do anything except asking for letter and remind them about the link that AADSAS send to them, correct?

If the prof prefers not to send them electronically, should I send the letters on behalf of prof OR prof need to send it?

Just remind them that they need to do this in a timely manner. I submitted everything in June and my app was held up until end of Sept because my health committee sent it late. They won't look at your app until everything is complete.

Just one more question,

Does the professors need to upload the letter in doc format or do they need to type (or copy+paste) the letter out once the link is sent to them?
(My professor wants to know it..)

Question: Does the applicant need to pay for the application prior to the professor receiving the link for upload? I'm wondering if my professors are taking their time or if they haven't received the link due to my non-payment.

NO you do not have to e-submit or pay before they can upload the letters

You can also use a website called interfolio which will store all your rec letters on it. Then you can select send to AADSAS as soon as your application opens and not have to worry about professors submitting it late. Of course you will have to ask them well in advance before the application to submit to interfolio.

But interfolio costs money right?

Can we send a LOR from interfolio directly to the school if we already used up the ones on AADSAS? Or do we have to have the person who wrote it send it to the specific school?
