recommendation letter...?

whats up everybody, im new to this forum. I was wondering if you guys can help me. I need to write up a recommendation letter for myself so my prof. can sign it. The problem is that i dont know what to write or put in the letter. Any advices?

Can you really do that? It doesn't seem too logical. I know if I was the person reading the letter, I sure wouldn't want the student to write it.

if you were to write a letter or rec for yourself, if i were on the adcom I would be able to notice the similarity in writing with the LOR and your personal statement. Why don't your prof write it for you? Some school requires that the letter be on official letterhead and school paper too.

Your professor sounds lazy. Why don't you ask him to write you one again and if he insists that you write it yourself I would find another professor to get a letter from. I agree with oink2655... your letter might not sound right if you try to write it yourself. I think you'd be saving yourself a lot of time and grief by having your professor write it.

This actually isn't too uncommon, it happens a lot. Normally, professors may ask you to write a rough draft that includes details about you personally, and then they later add comments themselves from their experience with you. I don't have personal experience with this, but know a number of people who did this themselves. It's a hassle to write a letter for yourself (and awkward), but if you don't have other options, then you might as well do it.

To answer your question, what most pharmacy schools most likely look for are personal qualities in a letter (determination, communication, etc etc). They want to hear what kind of person you are, not how well you did in a class (which they can see on your transcript). Hope this helps!

yea it is wierd trying to write a LOR of yourself. But this prof. is very a good teacher and i enjoyed his classes. I just want some idea of how to go on about this so it wont be so obvious.
