So I'm done applying and sending in my secondaries and all of that good stuff. But I'm still taking classes, and wanted to get recommendations from my histology and cancer cell professors. But since everything is sent in, does anyone know whether it is worth even getting these recommendations, and if it is, whether I should send them in through my pre-med committee or send it individually? Any help?

I sent an extra letter through my premed advisor after all the other stuff was sent it. I don't know if that was the best way, but that is what I did.

I have thought about this also, except mine arent from teachers, they are from the doctors I work with. hmmm. I decided not to just because most of the places that are still considering me have already looked through my stuff and just placed me on hold so I dont think they will look back at my application in depth to notice that now I have an extra letter. I had 2 DO letters already so I dont think an MD letter will really make any difference. But your letters sound nice, maybe they will make a difference, but you will never know if you dont try!

if your premed letter is already written and sent, i think sending it individually with your letter writer signing the seal should be okay. if you feel like you're pretty strong already, hold off and send it with an update letter to schools you want to hear from and haven't heard from yet.

I would definitely not call my application strong. My science GPA SUCKS!! Which is why I thought if there are letters from professors teaching med school level classes, along wiht my improved grades, perhaps it will be a beacon of light.

How long do you take from your initial application to send an update letter? Do you send it even if you haven't heard ANYTHING from the school, or is it usualy for schools which have given you an interview? I feel so behind and lost with everything.

Oh, and finally, I know schools interview until Feb/March and therefore, if I haven't received an interview invite yet, its not the end of the world. But I was wondering....what kinda dates are the interview invites that are being sent out now for? As in, if they send out all the Feb/March invites now....then isnt it bad that I haven't heard from any of these schools? Am I just being anal now? :scared:

i got my interview invite last week for one this week. it's really unorthodox and i haven't even received my interview packet yet! i'm going to call in and find out how to get there!

i sent an update or letter of interest letter about a month after i sent in my secondary applications. you do send it if you haven't heard from the school.

at nsu, they are interviewing for january and february.

You might as well send it since it is already written.

Absolutely. It can't hurt and may help. They won't think less of your application because they receive an additional LOR. Worse that happens is they ignore/disregard it. In that case, you're out the cost of a stamp.
