Recommendations for Optometry School

Hi everybody, I'm applying for the fall 2016 class of optometry schools, and had a quick question about recommendations; what type of information should I ask my professors to touch on, in recommending me?

In case this isn't clear (which it definitely might not be) I'm basically wondering if their recommendations should be shaded heavily towards talking about my student, in-class academics, or more towards how I am as a person, while just touching on school.

My personal opinion is that personal character should be a heavier emphasis, since schools can judge you academically based on your gpa and OAT scores.
