I second this. I'm glad to see this book is starting to get the credit it deserves.

It's by no means comprehensive, but it's practical and something you can use to sound intelligent during first year and at least understand a little about what the attendings are talking about when everything is really confusing.

It provides a base upon which to expand with more comprehensive books.

Not sure that one will help with BB.

For transfusion med and BB McCullough's makes for an easy read. The Quick Compendium should be good review.

i m starting with blood bank rotation

any recommendations regarding books to read.

thanks

The Wash U Manual of Surgical Pathology. It's cheap ($46.76 on Amazon), fits in your white coat pocket, and is chock full of useful info. It's not meant to be a comprehensive reference source, but if you make it your constant companion during residency you will be rewarded.

Can you or someone tell me what's so great about this book?

Thanks.

One of the reasons to go into pathology is that you don't have to wear a white coat with books stuffed into the pockets!

Very true. I will amend it to this: it's small enough to fit in the white coat pocket of the medical student du jour who is following you around all month.
