While I know each school is different, I was wondering if their are some 'universally' recommended courses pre-meds should undertake to diversify themselves. I know we're all meant to pursue our interests but regardless I'm wondering if there are any courses that may demonstrate your openness to other fields rather than setting yourself in stone by just undertaking science courses.

What I can think of so far is:

  • biochemistry
  • statistics
  • genetics
  • humanities

physical chemistry or (BMB 554) Macromolecular Crystallography: Methods and Applications.

Humanities humanities humanities. Ethics, literature, gender, history, religion, philosophy.

Of course, I go to a liberal arts college so I'm hugely biased. Taking biochem, stats, and genetics isn't going to demonstrate your "openness" to other fields.

-Cell and Molecular Biology
-Psychology (they are adding it to the MCAT soon)
-Physiology
-Anatomy
-Biochemistry (required at some schools)
-Genetics
-Any writing intensive courses
-Humanities in general
-Statistics and more specifically Bio statistics
