hmmm, we used:
bio: campbell's biology book... i barely opened the book, cause the exams only ever tested stuff on the notes, so i can't really say if it's any good
physics: cutnell's physics book... i thought it was pretty decent, though i don't remember it being all that great in regard to specific gravity or archimedes principle type stuff.
ochem: fox's organic chemistry book... i liked this book. it seems nobody else used this book, for whatever reason, but i thought it layed out the chapters in a nice manner, and it covered topics very thoroughly, but for all i know, the other texts may be alot better.
chemistry: chemistry the molecular science by moores, stanitski and jurs... i thought this book was pretty good for what it was. i can't really compare it with anything else, nor did i really read all that much of it, due to the exams being based mainly on the notes and problem sets. from what i've read though, the explanations were pretty good.
