Reconsider attending University at Buffalo Dental

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Many international faculty - While I am technically a minority and mean this not to be racist, the new dean has clearly begun to hire a majority of foreign/international faculty. This is because it is cost effective and he can tell them which courses to teach because in many ways they are at the will of the school because they cannot practice privately. While nice and knowledgeable, this creates a major communication gap and complex courses like fixed and removable are a disaster.

So your inability to communicate with international faculty should deter students from applying to this school? On top of that you're complaining about the 20+ students at your IDS program? Did you know that NYU has over 100? Sure you're not a racist but it does make you sound like a xenophobe. Why do you think you deserve your own chair when your tuition is considerably less than those of other schools?

Management of costs - Examples - We have to pay $1500 a year for VitalBook, where you have to pay for first year books in fourth year and things you will never use again or have never used in the first place. Also we buy so many supplies that never come out of the package. Disregard of the student.

Name me a dozen of schools that doesn't use VitalSource. It sucks, but using VitalSource isn't exclusive to University at Buffalo. And you complain about not getting a spring break. I would think that taking your regional board exam is more important than a spring break.

Lastly, most public schools are experiencing hikes in tuition. Doesn't Buffalo allow you to establish residency after your first year? I think people will still apply to University at Buffalo due to its cheaper tuition and clinical reputation.

Like I said if you have questions PM me, I will be more than happy to respond. As a student near graduating it is not beneficial for me to complain in an open forum.

Why don't you just post your story on SDN, so you don't look like a sketchy pre-dental gunning for a spot at UB? buDentite openly criticizes boston, and does a great job of offering an honest, personal, opinion.
