Hey guys, I feel as if I’m in some sort of a pickle. I recently emailed a recruiter on December 10th regarding the HPSP, and he replied within two days. I filled out the necessary background information the same day. It is now January 25th and I still have heard no reply. Could this be related to the shutdown?,(sounds stupid I know). I also marked that I had taken Vyvanse and Adderall within the previous 12 months, could this be the issue? Maybe I’m just being neurotic, but any words of wisdom would help.

Total speculation at this point, but I wouldn't be surprised if the services started throttling down on new accessions.

Not sure if there is already a thread on this, but:
More Than 17,000 Uniformed Medical Jobs Eyed for Elimination
"The Army, Navy, and Air Force are finalizing plans to eliminate over the next few years more than 17,000 uniformed medical billets -- physicians, dentists, nurses, technicians, medics and support personnel."

Word around the campfire is this will be done slowly, mostly through attrition, though I'm not sure I buy that. I'd love to hear what kind of guidance has been give to the recruiters about this.

Have you been pinging him/her regularly for updates, TS?

I won't get in to the very lengthy "make sure this is actually what you want" discussion that is basically the theme of this whole forum.

But if you can, go to the recruiting center in person. Or call and ask to speak to the recruiter. Give him a few chances to reply. If he avoids you, then ask to speak to the OIC. If I were an OIC, and my recruiters were avoiding applicants, I'd want to know about it.

Don't be a dick, just ask if there's anything you haven't done or if there are any issues with your application. There's a difference between being a PITA and asking for an update.

Incidentally, it would be interesting to know what you're told, especially if it does relate to a force projection issue.

I emailed him two weeks ago asking him if there was an issue with my application, or if there was anything else I needed to compete and he still didn’t reply

I emailed him 2 weeks back, but unfortunately I didn’t get an email in return. I’m considering talking to a recruiter from another branch or just another Air Force recruiter.

Do as my name says and Avoid Military Medicine. A higher power is looking out for you.

I have had friends for whom this has been a minor issue. Aside from that, they usually just do a ****ty job at contacting you back anyways so I wouldn't be too worried. I just have to call mine on occasion to find out how much he's slacking.
