Okay, so all kidding aside with my last thread on making a practice unique, we do still have some extra office space. How are other people going about recruiting more therapists or even better, more prescribers into their practice? I'd prefer not to attract just anybody, since that can be a bit of a gamble. However, these days, getting more prescribers is pretty tough to recruit into a private practice with where I am at. It's not like we're a big medical organization. We can't offer things like retirement, health insurance, loan forgiveness, etc. And I understand a lot of people coming out of residency have loans to pay. Are you mostly advertising in things like APA? LinkedIn? Doing teaching at residencies to increase awareness? I'd love to hear your input on what has yielded better results. I have some more ideas brewing but would love to hear from other people's experiences since it can only help. Thanks!

What are you offering? If I'm not going to get insurance and retirement, why would I want to be an employee?

Well, I hear the private sector does appeal to some people further along in their career after they've paid their loans. There is certainly the benefit of autonomy, you can choose how you want your schedule, choose who you see, and practice on your own terms. No pressures to give stimulants. Also, at least in my area, many of the healthcare systems attract train wrecks to the psychiatry clinics: raging borderlines, extensive AODA, multiple prescribers, chronic high risk. Don't know all the fine details of how they reimburse, but you can still make a good amount an hour and with a low risk, relatively higher functioning population. I do plan to look for a partner as well at some point.

Just don't call me a prescriber

And please don't call me "therapist."

Not to denigrate the term or role. But there is so much more, and those of us who work in largely clinical internvention positions don't really fit that circumscribed definition/role.

We've gotten all our part-time staff from word of mouth. It has been pleasant hiring like-minded people who most of us have worked with previously. In my area many of the docs only work 4 days a week at their full time position and we are fairly a tight knit group so it hasn't been hard to find people interested in moonlighting one or two days a week for an exceptional rate sans benefits. Maybe start asking around, arrange a few happy hours? Thats where my best offers have come from.

If they are an MD, offer free health insurance, a $500 car lease stipend, and 300k a year in salary. You will get a taker who will create at least 600k for revenue, and 200k in your pocket

I see what you mean. Part-time hourly work might be a good option for some folks.
Sorry if I sounded snarky in my previous post.
