Looking at a few:

Substance Abuse: A Comprehensive Textbook (Spiral Manual Series) by Joyce H Lowinson

The American Psychiatric Publishing Textbook of Substance Abuse Treatment (American Psychiatric Press Textbook of Substance Abuse Treatment)

anyone familiar with either of these or others they'd recommend?

thanks!

I own the Lowinson, and it is indeed "comprehensive". Like most multi-author compendium-style textbooks, the chapters can vary widely. If you're interested in addiction, it's probably a must-have.

I read this little baby (below) in prep for my addiction boards, and I found it quite readable, concise, and helpful. Then I lent it to a resident, and never saw it again... :( You might want to check into it.
