I have something here that says the Mn 3+ ion has a 3d4 electron configuration. I found manganese on the periodic table and went back three. I was on an element with the d orbital 3d2. What am I doing wrong"?

Electrons exit the highest energy orbital first. 4s is a higher energy orbital than 3d.

Ground state manganese: [Ar]4s2 3d5
3+ manganese cation: [Ar]3d4
