Hey guys!! I am a new member and so excited about it 🙂 😛

I have some questions regarding my app, 1-How many hours of dent shadow is needed at least? 2- is dent ref necessary? 3- can u guys send me the file that has all the schools info, which one to apply which one not to?

Almost every school requires a LOR from a dentist, and there isn't necessarily a minimum number of hours you should have, but it would be best to have some hours of experience logged.

Not all schools require LOR from dentists...Some of them recommend but that's not required. Only a few needs that, like Boston, Tufts, Commonwealth etc.

The ADEA 2012 official guide to dental schools would be a great investment. it has school stats and alot of other good info

what....? i'm so screwed then. the dentist i've shadowed/volunteered for the most is my own father (i dont think i can ask him to write me a letter?? or can i??) and the other dentsits i've shadowed don't speak English fluently...

You certainly do not want your father writing a letter for you. Some schools don't require a letter from a dentist. Either apply to those schools or find another dentist to write you a letter.

So far the only schools I've applied to that require letters from dentsits are BU, VCU and Tufts. Luckily, those aren't my top choices, except Tufts is kinda up there.

If you want people from the adcoms to be able to read them...then they need to be written in English.

yes i saw that but does not include the schools i can apply as a canadian?

BU mentioned minimum of 100 hours recommended!! I dont know how close is this to required for them!🙂 BU is one of my top choice
