How many reference letters do schools require, and who do they have to be form? From my research, I've seen that you need 3, from professors that have taught you, but I'm not sure this is correct. Any adivce would be appreciated.

I didn't get a committee letter but from my experience, I've had no problems with the following and I added 40+ schools:

- my chem professor (from my major)
-My bio prof (doubles as my prof and research PI)
-my English professor (non science)
-2 MDs (who speak highly of me and one was the director of my volunteer program)

I think this depends on the school. Most schools I'm applying to have this info. on their website.
