Hey I need to have 4 references for a job application. Do you think it would be acceptable to put 4 people's name on there first, and then notify them that I listed them as reference? Or would that be super rude since I didnt ask ahead of time? (This is due tomorrow x.x). I also highly doubt that they are actually going to call.

Eh, people that I list as references already know they are listed as my references. It is common courtesy, I guess. If they are people you know relatively well and you outperformed their expectations (aka they love you) then I don't think it would be a big deal. Otherwise, I'd check first. It might be too late, but a phone call/email wouldn't hurt.

Since you don't have time, DO IT, and don't think twice about it.

Just tell them that you already did it, don't ask them. Just let them know of the situation.
