I'm doing the best that I can to educate and dispel the dis- and misinformation out there about our field. It really does not help that we have a physiatrist who does nothing but consults and rights the same thing "pt appropriate for rehab vs. SNF" on every patient.

That being said, is there a journal article that outlines a certain type of patient with an algorithm of when to refer a patient to a physiatrist?

I know one physiatrist that did that sort of thing, but this was at a county hospital where I didn't expect any more effort. It seemed like he was never around and got his PA to do most of the consults. In the end, perhaps his most important role was to be a gatekeeper for disposition to acute vs. sub-acute vs. SNF. So much for the usefulness of getting a rehab consult back in that hospital.

I am a PT ATC and I have seen most of the injuries in your videos happen in real life, but to watch them one after the other, I got the heebie jeebies like 4 times. the girl BB knee (was that an ACL or a dislocation - it looked horrible) the wrestler with the probable elbow dislocation, and the soccer player with the tib fib fx. Where in the world did you get those videos?

I've been screwing around on the internet when the only browser was called Lynx. ACL tear for the BB player.

The videos should play if you run the ppt from the internet and don't save it to your computer.
