Took the DAT and killed it 🙂. Won't share my scores but I did well and better than I thought I would and wanted to share this.
Bio - Destroyer will come in clutch! Destroyer has some weird questions that will show up on your DAT. Bootcamp is great too for practice and emulating the DAT conditions. Also has great explanations. Used Cliffs, ANKI, mixture of feralis and tyjacobs, and a bit of russels bio notes. I would rotate through each, I get bored easily. Also youtube Craig savage and bozeman science. The questions are really really basic, with like 3-4 application questions. The random questions they throw at you are still basic, but destroyer will help with those curveballs. I was thinking during the exam, how the heck did orgoman know this would be on the DAT haha. I only did about 40% of it, but I wanted to do more, but I took the DAT earlier because I wanted to go on vacation. If anything finish the bio destroyer, it's worth it. You can also knock out 4-5 pages while on the toilet lol. Or review 4-5 pages while on the toilet 🙂.
GC - Chad's and Mike. Chad is great for everything. I recommend Mike too if you're struggling with GC because he breaks it down, I had a hard time with stoich and just the calculations still after watching Chad, but with Mike I just got better at them and I was able to break down any difficult problem by deriving a equation using the basics. GC on the real DAT had half conceptual half calculation based. I had some really weird questions too. Did about a 1/3rd of destroyer GC and some BC subject GC tests.
OC Chads and Mikes. Chad is a great man. Mike was more thorough and just watching his videos helps solidify or acted as review from what I learned from Chad. Also you can watch his videos on 1.5 speed. Did 100 problems in destroyer and called it quits. Not that it was hard, but I just am lazy when it comes to studying and I'm decent at OC and I heard it's basic on the DAT, so I just reviewed my notes and did some BC practice exams with this. I would know how pKa and pH affects molecules, I saw people talk about that today on SDN. Pretty simple questions.
RC - Pretty simple. First BC RC took I was lazy and think I got a 16 and just half read it. It was boring and I wasn't motivated. I only took 2 RC exam in total, yes only two and I got a 17 or 16 I forget. In the full lengths I didn't even bother attempting it lol. I used it a week before to just get a sense on what my strategy would be. On the real DAT the passages were interesting to read and passages are simple and questions are in order. The first two passages I just read a few paragraphs and got the jist of everything then did the questions. The questions were in order (paragraph to paragraph) lol. The last passage was a bit out of order, but I read through most of it and just search and destroyed. I basically read like 3-4 paragraphs, highlighted, then search and destroyed. Pretty simple. Also very happy with what I got considering I took 1-2 RC exam. I honestly thought I got a 30 here, that's how easy it was. Most people say read a few paragraphs then search and destroy and they got pretty good scores, so I stuck with it and didn't overthink this section and used there advice. I saw a common trend these past weeks of people saying it's in order, so my lazy ass figured mine will be in order to haha.
QR- Simple and not hard. I used chad's QR and quizzes and some youtube videos on factoring the more complicated equations. Surprised with a ton of easy questions. If you don't know how to answer then mark and get a chance to look at all the questions. Really easy compared to BC and Destroyer and math destroyer. If you learn how to do the variety of problems seen like age, stats, algebra, factoring, graphs, and use common sense, it's pretty simple. ALSO BC QC questions and the graph questions were spot on, I think I had like 4 of the graph ones and they were super super super easy. I didn't even do math destroyer except for a practice exams a loooong time ago and reviewed every answer I got wrong which was basically the whole test lol, I did maybe 100 math problems in destroyer, and did like 2-3 BC QR exams, and all of chad's quizzes. This is coming from someone who sucks at math. It was really easy on the DAT, or at least my version was.
PAT- Practice it and one day it will click. If you suck at it, have someone help you out.
OVERALL: I took about 3 full length exams. Didn't get to take 2007 or 2009 exam. To be honest didn't feel like it, I hate sitting down to take an exam because I know on the real deal I will focus up and devote all my energy to it and I did. Took all 10 bio exams in Bootcamp did 40% of bio destroyer, 5 GC exams in Bootcamp and a third of destroyer, 7 OC exams in Bootcamp and 100 OC destroyer problems, half assed 2 QR exams in BC, did chad's quizzes, and 100 math destroyer problems, and half assed 2 PAT exams.
Well that's it. Also I would use all the resources available, but I didn't use all of them because I hate sitting down leaning forward doing destroyer problems then have to flip through 100 pages to see the answers. I just layed on my bed and looked at notes most of the time. Also go through each answer choice of destroyer and BC I know it sucks, but it's basically like review without having to go through old material. Especially the last 5 BC exams man, but the DAT genius guy (Joel) did a bang up job not only with the questions, but you got to review almost every biological concept in one exam, so it counted as taking a practice exam and studying bio when reviewing the answers. (He's also the man responsible for the last 5 BC exams in the sciences I believe.
Average spent maybe 6 hours a day. On and off since second week of May. I could have prepared more but there's something called life and sometime you just can't think about studying when other things are on your mind. But I'm pleased with my scores, and thanks to everyone from @Ari Rezaei , @orgoman22, Nancy, @FeralisExtremum @joelm He needs some more recognition he did a bang up job with his practice exams and explanations, PAT academy was alright too. Everyone on SDN for there breakdowns as well. I think I read more than 100 breakdowns and they all helped me.
That's it. The DAT isn't too bad. If I can do it, trust me you can do it 🙂
Oh and Prometric sucks! The people were nice, but the company sucks. Overcharge for a test, overcharge for extending a test, website being down when people got things to take care of. How the heck are you going to hold phone hours Monday-Friday then shut down the website Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. However, one lady was weird. I'm waiting in line and I'm the only person there. I come up to her like "hey where do I..." she says "stop right there, I'll call you when I'm ready" She was literally finishing her bagel and then 2 minutes later, she's like alright you can come. Prometric sucks.
