I recently receive my Step 2 CK score. Unfortunately, I did quite poorly...as in really mess up my application poorly. Question is if there is a required amount of time that I must release the score? I understand that doesnt sound the best, but I feel that it does not accurately portray me. Is this a completely terrible thing to do or just part of playing "the game?" Thanks for any feedback.

There are no rules about this. You do not need to release it. If any program asks, you need to be honest. If they don't ask, then that's fine. If a program asks you to release it via ERAS, then you have a problem -- since that's all-or-nothing.

It is a really bad score, but still passing?
Or a really bad score which is failing?

If it's the first case and programs don't ask, then don't release it.

If it's the second case, then listen very closely at interview time. Some programs will require that you pass Step II prior to starting the program. And the last thing you'd want to do is match at a place that requires it, then have to explain to them that you need to go back and retake the exam soon (which, heaven help you if you fail a second time)

More and more programs are requiring Step 2 before they submit their final rank lists. You need to be clear on this as well.
