Hi, just started residency here. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for sources to use to help a fellow resident get refreshed on the following topics, I am aware of some but was wondering what you all used as well:
-basic interpretation of EKGs
-antibiotics (what the different classes cover, what bugs to suspect in various circumstances, etc.)

I have basic knowledge but it wouldn't hurt to try to continue to improve on these two.

do a google search and u will find many free resources.

Here is one for ECG: e.g.http://www.anaesthetist.com/icu/organs/heart/ecg/Findex.htm
also there are many books on it. The first book I used on ECG's was Dubin's Rapid Interpretation of ECG's. but there are also many pocket books available..i can't remember the name of the one that i totally loved, but it was in outline form as that website i cited above...search on amazon.com for some.

here is a niceabx guide ive used before on my phone and on the net: http://hopkins-abxguide.org/
An abx guide i've also used in paperback form as a resident: http://www.sanfordguide.com/Sanford_Guide/Home.html

im sure there are also phone apps you can download in this day and age.

I think Dubin's is pretty basic, step by step for EKGs and I always liked Clinical Microbiology made (ridiculously) simple for antibiotics and which bugs they cover.

they're med student level books, but basic and thorough.

(1) "Clinical Microbiology Made Ridiculously Simple."

(2) Thaler's "The Only EKG Book You'll Ever Need."

Both cheap and easy to read. Both above-average on information. Good luck.

if you want EKG help, Tahler as above or Garcia, if you want more of a workbook style. Skip Dubin's. It's too basic imo.

earn free amazon credit (80 qpoints = $100 amazon credit) by watching short medical related clips... great educational opportunities/resources as well as money-making opportunities to fund these various resources.

Why do they pay viewers?
