Regarding Automatic Rejection

Hello everybody. So I recently signed up for a July 12th MCAT because I felt that I did not do as well as I wanted to on the April 24th MCAT. I will be getting the scores back on May 28th and am planning on applying with that score to at least one school just to get verified.

From what I hear, some schools have automatic rejections does anybody have a list of these schools? I've called two schools (NYCOM and Rowan-SOM) and they said they will wait for the MCAT scores but has anybody heard anything else?

I am pretty sure that if you have it on your application that you are applying another day then they would at least hold your application. I imagine an automatic rejection is pretty low... who knows you could surprise yourself. Almost everyone I know felt horrible after their test, most do within +/-2 of their AAMC averages.

Personally I thought I bombed PS (like BOMBED it), got my normal score. Verbal I felt like I killed it (like felt like it was easier than any of the AAMCs), got 1 point lower than normal, bio I felt about average, got about average. You seriously never know how the curve is set up for your test. Doing poorly on a very hard version of the test can give you the same score as doing well on a very easy version of the test.

Either way, to your original point, yea just apply, I dont think any would autoreject with a pending MCAT on your app.

I actually had the same question. So would it be best to apply to one school that you're not particularly interested in and get verified early on if you're not sure if your MCAT score will be good or would it be best to wait for the retake? I take mine May 31 and am trying to decide if I want to go ahead and send in my application early or just wait until the MCAT score comes out. I don't know what's best since I guess if you apply to that one school and then get a bad score and decide not to apply to the rest you'll be listed as a reapplicant.

ALL schools have auto-rejection. It depend upon what the numbers of the applicants are.

Some schools may auto reject, but you can still call after your new mcat and request a re-evaluation. Most schools wait for the second score.
