Negative threads about schools have been compared to MD vs. DO threads and so with that same analogy in mind I would like to quote Dr. Burnett: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=133066

"MD vs. DO flame-wars will no longer be tolerated at SDN. It is OK to discuss the differences and benefits of each degree. However, personal attacks and "trolling" are not appropriate."

This same guideline can be applied for the threads in question; as long as some opinion is being voiced, whether negative or positive, that is not voiced implicitly to incite others or that is insulting on a personal level to others, it will be allowed. Just because you have a difference of opinion does not mean that the other opinion should be squelched, maybe in Cuba that sort of thing goes but not in the USA; if not, then there would not be very much discussion here at all.

When I first read those LECOM and NYCOM threads I thought to myself how I would feel if someone started bashing my school, and I questioned why anyone would want to lower their own education’s “value”. Watching those threads closely I have seen people argue opinions and backing them up with observations, but I do not believe those threads were created with the intent of “trolling” or inciting people’s anger; albeit, some people did get angry.

Having said that, I would like to remind everyone that your opinions may be voiced here in this forum, but please take a moment and think of how they will affect others and even yourself; sometimes the old phrase “sleep on it” is the best advice one can consider.

Listen, I don't mean to be rude, but you're an MS I and you really don't know ****. Your statement entirely contradicts itself. The dress code was always the least of my concerns. You shouldn't even post about how LECOM treats its MS IIIs and MS IVs because YOU DON"T KNOW. Stick with what you do know...maybe a little anatomy and basic science

im a third year at lecom erie and i really wish i knew who the OP was ... either way, i've been very happy at lecom. thats not to say everything's been perfect, but no different than anything i'd expect at any other school. the only problem i've ever had is some difficulty dealing with clinical ed when it comes to setting up rotations ... but i think i've heard that complaint from every single med student i've ever met from every school ... dont let this one poster deter you from LECOM if you are considering it. there are plenty of lecomers on this site that are very happy with the school and would be glad to answer any questions anyone has [/QUOTE

Now that I've named ten things that I dislike about LECOM, I want you to list ten things that you LOVE about LECOM since you're obviously so happy to be there. Lets see what you put together. This should be interesting. Try hard now...I'm sure this is going to take some effort. Also, can you refute the list that I made. Am I lying about these things? C'mon I think the 1400 people who have viewed this thread should know the truth. Tell me some reasons that people should choose LECOM over other DO schools other than becuase they can't get in to any other school

Close the thread will not help any one.
OP has a very strong points if you see them or not. and nothing will change if everybody kept quiet.
Thank you

6) FYI, I don't know what you learned in english class, but the OP did not make any points at all. From what I gathered in English 101, you are supposed to make statements, and then back them up with evidence. The OP managed to do the first, mindlessly easy step, but there was absolutely nothing behind the bold accusations. To make it worse, he/she has not even been back on the thread to defend himself/herself. In fact, I am almost certain that the OP is laughing his/her head off for having created such havoc! Truth be told, the OP is a genius and an idiot, all wrapped in one.

It is very clear that many students agree that LECOM is in need for change to be better school.
people who speak up professionally most likely they are the people who will make difference.
we do not need to close the thread we need to learn how you can condect an argument proffessionally.
please try to attack the OP points not his/her personality.
Thank you.

The OP is an MSIII, and I'm the Messiah

I will stop there since that is only the third page and I have to go to work now. At every other step, the OP will insult anyone who even attempts to defend the school. Just go to the page from today to get a good example. The girl was trying to say something positive and that translates to you have a run-on sentence. Express your opinions but when you don't want anyone else to express theirs, what use is the thread? The only positive and negative opinions being thrown around are by the OP saying he hates the school and the people from LECOM saying they love it. But those, sadly, are a dime a dozen.

My only reason for even calling out on that other thread was to get your attention since nothing was being done about it. I am not the only one who called for the thread to be closed, however. I just have a big mouth 🙂. I don't care for LECOM, I have even admitted to hating it myself, but the day that my opinions are turned into a thread that bashes everyone else who made a decision not my own, that is the day I retire from humanity. Read it again there Nate and if you still don't believe what I say, then that is your decision. I have as much as I am going to say about it.

I also want to express appreciation for all the work the moderators do on SDN.

These folks are in med school/residency and are kind enough to spend their precious time keeping the peace and helping to make this resource work.

You guys rock! 👍
