How many hours do you think the average applicant has spent shadowing/working at a dental clinic? I haven't done a lot so far, and i'm in my junior year...do you think dental schools will frown upon that?

50 or so should be good...

Don't worry about it, just get more experience if you need it. You will also want to get experiences in different specialties. Admissions boards want to make sure you know what you are getting into and like to see continued interest in the field.

i think that working/shadowing will only help you in the long run. try to do it more if you can.

IMO, I feel that if an applicant hasn't had much exposure to the dental profession, through shadowing, volunteering or employment, they really don't know what they are getting into. In that case I would question their motivation. You don't need a million hours to impress adcoms, you just need to show that you actually have an interest in the profession and you've had enough exposure to know that dentistry is not easy money.

so then, again, my question is, what is a "reasonable" number of hours to have completed.
