To those of you that had interview with the university of Maryland: how many of get an acceptance letter. Some people have posted that they have been accepted. Do they send letters to all the accepted students at once? Or do they send on rounds?

they dont send all the letters at once (otherwise, how would have some ppl found out they already got accepted for this fall 🙂). i think they send out the acceptance letters based on when you have your interviews (like a month or 2 after or something). i dunno. all i could have just said could be completely wrong 😛.

PS. i recently found out Umaryland is UMB not UMD. just fyi 🙂

I am talking of regular applicatnts(not early decision). I think the school said they are no longer using rolling admission and let everone know of thier decision in middle of March. Also I think umaryland is UMDB not UMB

hahaha..

if you click the "quick link" button on the school's website, it lists "UMB" (directs to www.umaryland.edu). if you think you're right, i give up on using acronyms for schools.

plus, i wasnt talking about early decision before at all. there are ppl who have done their interviews recently and got acceptances.

i think they mentioned that they'll let everyone know together in march but maybe since the last interview date was this past saturday, they started sending out the ones from the earliest interview dates.
a few people have posted that they've received their acceptance letters already that interviewed on the 21st and i'm not sure if anyone that got one interviewed at a later date. unless someone has and can post a reply to let us know...

I was interviewed on Saturday Jan 28th. I received my letter on the 11th of February (Saturday). Of course, it was dated earlier.
Hope this helps any anxiety....and also, GOOD LUCK!

That is definitely rather disappointing news for me. Interviewd on 28th too and got nothing yet. I'm hoping it's a east coast to west coast mailing delay. Maryland was definitely one of my top choices.

That is yet another thing I do not understand. They were saying it's not rolling admission, but it certainly seems like it is.

yeah, i coulda sworn they did say they weren't rolling, but some letters of acceptance are out.

As a matter of fact, I'll probably give them a call tomorrow and ask them what's going on.

There's actually an interview tomorrow and another one in march...the one in march is probably the last interview but I could be wrong.

Damnit Jim! 😀

Did you call them Edd, if so, what'd you hear?

sorry for the confusion. when they sent me a mass email about interview dates, the last date i saw was feb. 11. good luck to those with interviews!

I have an interview there on March 3rd. I talked to the assistant dean there and she said that March 3rd is the last interview date. And there was an interview today, 2/17.

i interviewed feb 11 and they told us that we would find out a week or so after the 17th of feb...and they did emphasize the fact they were no longer doing rolling admissions, so i assumed we were the last group interviewing

The last interview date is March 3rd afternoon due to bad weather for 2 of the previous interview dates. The explanation by Dr. Morgan for why some people have already been notified of acceptance was kind of weird, so I can't properly explain it.

Some of the interviewees have been really impressive. Each new class at Maryland seems to get better and better.

It was rather frustrating. They told me the typical "You'll recieve reply by mid-March" thing. She was stressing "That was what we are supposed to tell you." It seems they realize that people found out about the few early acceptances and are just putting up "no comment" signs.

trust me. i know it is frustrating to just sit and wait for that acceptance letter, especially if maryland is where you want to go. however, even though admissions may have indicated that they would notify everyone at once, they also stressed just as much, if not more, that they did not want to be bombarded with calls asking about their status and stressed the virtue of being patient. their interview timeline may have been thrown off by the weather, but whatever the reason that they sent some acceptances out early, i'd advise you to refrain from calling their offices just to ask why some people received letters and others have not and then point out to them that they told you they weren't going to do rolling admissions. because bottom line, persistance may work in your favor to a point but you should still remember that they are busy with a lot of other things, especially since they're still conducting interviews.

I do understand. But it's their inconsistency on no rolling admission that bothers me. If they're busy, they could have just wait until all their interviews are over and then send the acceptance/waitlist/rejection all at the same time.

It would be a different story if they mention that some candidates will recieve their letter later on. If that was the case I would've just chilled and wait until March.

But meh. I guess either way I'm waiting.
