Hey, so I was wondering, being on waitlists and all, how many updates are too many updates? I sent a LOI to my top choice almost 3 weeks ago but I've been wanting to send them more. Would an update every 3 to 4 weeks be alright if I have something to update on, i.e. the status of my research, etc?

Something else I've been wondering is where to actually send the updates. I've just been sending mine to the general admissions office email, but if it doesn't seem to cause any problems, would it be in bad taste to send them directly to the dean of admissions? I figure they are the one's making the decision, right?

Thanks, I'm looking for all the help I can get right now...

Check you school's website. They probably have a sentence on there that says where application updates should be sent.

IMO, I think every 3-4 weeks is a little too much...I find it hard to believe that there is a whole lot any person could accomplish in that short amount of time that will have a huge impact on their application, especially if they are already waitlisted. I would personally limit myself to one or two updates total and list things that I thought would significantly impact my standing.

Good Luck

I thought so as well, I've just read of people doing this. I was more curious because I sent a LOI just to the admissions office and in it I talked about what I like about the school and why it's my number one choice. In this "update" I was thinking I would send it directly to the dean of admissions (I've read this isn't a trouble for this school) with an actual update since my interview and mention characteristics I have that may make me a strong medical student. I wanted to get this to the dean before May 15th, so should I just wait till right before then to send it? or wait till after to see if I get in without it?

I guess it would depend on if you feel it would make a significant impact on your application or not...If not, then I wouldnt worry about it.

If you have significant updates, send them in! You have nothing to lose.
