If I remember correctly from when I was at NYU james salzer is staying on, but wants to focus more of his time on his research. Dr. Salzer is also very busy and not very involved in the program and they wanted a new director who would be more hands-on.
 
The students at NYU agree, for the most part, that having Rod Ulane as the director will be a very positive thing for the program. He's supposed to transition into the program this spring. After interviewing with Dr. Salzer, I can't help but agree that the change of leadership will be an improvement for everyone involved...
