On Duke's website, it says that students interviewed regionally generally have about the same or slightly higher acceptance rates than students interviewed on-campus.

What is the reason for that? Doesn't flying across the country from coast to coast for an one-hour interview show much greater enthusiasm and desire to go to the school?😕

i think they say that so people don't feel like they have to travel for a better chance.

SLU (Saint Louis University) said the same thing. barakutha's prolly right.

I live in st. louis, and know that every one who's ever thought about med school from aroud here applies to SLU, so it could be that the schools have a flood of similar and often mediocre applicants from their hometown area (in other words people who can easily interview on site), whereas people from farther away (regional interviewers) may be more serious applicants on the whole or different than the cookie cutters who all apply from that area. Just a thought.

Regional interviews also have a smaller number of people that they can interview, so they probably have to be a bit more picky than normal when selecting who to interview.
