Hello all,

I wanted to know how bad will my non-reputable school (NY regional top 20) effect my admission to top med school (assuming all stats are good ie 30 MCAT -didnt take MCAT yet but thats what I am shooting for-, 3.6 GPA, 3.7 BMCP, etc...) Also I am URM (will not be applying till 2 yrs from now).

Any advice on what I can do to stregthen my app. would be great. Since I have time i want to do some better then average things.

Thanks...taking all opinions!

as a URM from NY with a 30/3.7, you'll have no problem getting in the NY state schools, and a great chance at all the private ones.

A 30(if you can get it) and a 3.7 with good EC's will put you in a good position to get just about anywhere with URM status. I'm not sure you understand just how rare those stats would be. I wouldn't count out any schools with those numbers(including top 5's).

Hi,

Well thanks for the reply... Well, I am positive about my 3.7 GPA but not about the 30 MCAT since I havent taken the test but I feel very positive about that score. Hopefully that is what i will score.. if not I guess I will have to look elsewhere to become a doc. Thanks again.

not to be mean or anything, but let's hope that 3.7 today will still be a 3.7 2 yrs from now 😉 (sorry, just got a C this semester that has destroyed my 3.7).
