    Hi,
I was wondering if any people regret going to optometry school? If so, what else would you consider doing instead ?

None yet, but talk to me next year when I've been out in practice for a while.

My regrets are overall minimal...there are some times where I wish I followed the MD route - mainly because of the limited scope of practice that ODs have. It seems that MDs can do almost anything as far as medicine goes. But on the flip side, there have been many advances in the OD's scope e.g. the ability for ODs to use TPAs and DPAs (Therapeutic and Diagnostic Pharmaceutical Agents) in the last couple of decades. IMHO, I think there's a lot of hope for ODs in the future because we have such a strong group of lobbying optometrists dedicating their lives to sustain our profession; thank goodness for the American Optometric Association (AOA) and their state counterparts.
