Hey everyone,
I was wondering if there is anyone seriously considering REI. I have read that it is pretty competitive, 1:3 or 1:4. Does this sound right? Well, this is definitely the field that I'd like to go into. I was wondering what happens if you are not accepted into a fellowship. I am fairly passionate about OB, but am very set on REI. Do you just keep reapplying until you get accepted somewhere? Do you try to settle into an OB practice? Do research? I'm only an MS1, but was thinking about this today. Any help is appreciated.
Congrats to everyone who just matched!

REI is very competitive since there are only a handful of fellowships available. Just make sure that you are willing to do regular ob/gyn if you choose to go down that path, in the event that you do not get a fellowship. With that said, where you do your residency is very important IMO. You want to make sure that you are at a well known and well respected place, preferably somewhere that has REI. Research during residency is important, but I think the connections that you make are even more so.

Deacon - I would worry about taking care of medical school, step 1, and your clincal rotations now. Although, it would not be a bad idea to get your feet wet with some research (does not have to be REI related) over the summer, or during an elective. Once you get to residency you should make it clear that you are interested in REI and get involved in research. That way you can get to meetings and make those all important connections.

Could someone tell me what REI is ? 😕
Thank you !
