Can someone fill me on on Repro Endo? I am really interested in it, but everyone I talk to about just looks at me and sighs and says how competitive it is.. Does anyone have first hand knowledge of this?

Can someone also comment on Neonatal Med?

thanks

go to this link, and click on "fellowship programs". there is a list of ~44 programs... each takes 1 per year typically, and the length is 3 years of training. There are program descriptions for each program, and they seem to be heavily emphasizing research.

most programs are at academic institutions that have their own ob/gyn programs, and if you think this is something that you want to do, you should consider those ob/gyn programs heavily since a lot of these programs will fill from their home programs.

in med school i rotated with a rei guy who mainly did ivf. he had an awesome lifestyle, made a lot of money, and seemed thrilled to go to work every day. he was also a very talented laparoscopist. i enjoyed working with him (and hanging out in his plush office...)

i think that you can get a lot of information from the link i provided. if this is something you want to do, you should probably be doing research in the field, and go to as many rei conferences as you can to meet people in the field. also, like i said already, try to match at one of the programs with an in-house fellowship. it seems like a cool field, great reimbursement, potentially great lifestyle... only 44 spots per year though. start planning now.

best of luck!
