I am working on reinvention. I have two classes that I did poorly in, and did not retake at the time. They are both upper level sciences. Although I can, technically, retake them at my university, the tuition would be extremely expensive with additional charges tacked on for being a non-degree seeking student. Taking courses through UCLA or Harvard extension would be a lot better for me since they are much cheaper than my university. I have taken upper level sciences through both and have done well. Would avoiding my university be a red flag?

It makes sense to save money and pursue classes elsewhere. Most people don’t go back to their undergrad to do them even if they had done particularly poorly in an upper level course. Choose similar classes through the extension options so you can show you don’t have trouble anymore with advanced material.

I went to a well-known public school for undergrad(business), then did all of my medical school prerequisites at the satellite campus and a community college. It's never been brought up in interviews.

do med schools even know which campus a course was taken in

If they care enough to decode the transcript. The clearinghouse they use to verify has everything, and most schools do code each class, even if a written description is not on the transcript you see (location, in-person, virtual, etc.). It's how the registrar at the school keeps track of everything (scheduling, room blocking, etc.).

Whether or not any med school will care enough to dive into the weeds on this is another matter. If you tell them a class was in person and the class code says it was virtual, THAT could be a big problem. OTOH, I seriously doubt they would ask or care about satellite campuses of state schools.
