I have to say that I'm a little annoyed. Got rejected by a school today, and I'm wondering why they couldn't have either told me weeks ago or waited literally one day more to have the decency to read my dean's letter first. Seriously?

They probably look through applications and make a list of everyone they don't want to interview and send out rejection emails in a group to save time, i.e. they are pretty much form emails stating how they can't interview everyone and have tons of great applicants etc. So a decision was probably made maybe even two weeks ago and you just got the email now. It would be a waste of time to email everyone individually after they are rejected. A little weird they do it on halloween though or maybe someone has a weird sense of humor at that school.
