Hi there, just curious if anyone has been rejected because pre reqs weren't completed at the time of interview? I wanted to apply next June, and won't have some of my pre reqs done until fall time, I plan on taking the MCAT in August. Should I wait, has anyone had any experience with this?😳

You need to all prereqs done PRIOR to matriculation, not acceptance. I know quite a few people taking some prereqs (like biochem/genetics/english) during application year. Never heard rejected for not having the prereqs done by though. Most will have the chemistry, physics, and general bio done b/c of the MCAT by the time of application.

:luck:

It actually depends on the school. LECOM-Erie rejected me because I hadn't taken organic chemistry yet. UNECOM will not give me a supplemental application until they have received my grade from orgo 1. But, I have my acceptance at DCOM and interviews at NYCOM and PCSOM. I am probably one of the few idiots who took the MCAT without having taken organic chemistry and it definitely affected my score. I didn't think it mattered for athought the same thing that mshheaddoc did about only needing to be complete by the time of matriculation, but I was apparently wrong. I had actually even called a few schools who told me it didn't matter, so I thought this was this case for all of them. It just depends on the individual school, so I would check with the schools you plan to apply to. Good luck!:luck:

All the schools i applied to require 2 semesters of english. I only show 1 on my AACOMAS so I have actually received acceptances that are contingent on my completion of a second semester (I had actually discussed it with the schools and they'll accept my Speech or Writing Intensive communications class). But to answer your question, they won't reject you b/c you haven't completed the reqs, you can even get accepted prior to completion.

The school MAY reject you for not having the pre-reqs complete. I got a email from LECOM saying I was deficient in 8 hours of chemistry and therefore my application couldn't be processed. I contacted them and explained that I was currently enrolled in organic 1 and would be taking organic 2 in the spring, but less than a week later I got a rejection letter in the mail. UNECOMs policy is to not give out supplemental applications until all pre-reqs are complete. I believe this excludes orgo 2 and biochem because they offer it as a distance learning class. I practically begged them to send my supplemental. I told them I would have my orgo teacher write a letter and everything. But, this is what they told me and so I have to wait until I have completed orgo 1 in December. This means they won't get my grade until Jan and then maybe I will be complete there by the end of Jan. Anyway, there are a few schools that have an issue with the pre-req completion. LECOM and UNECOM were the only schools out of all the schools I applied to that had an issue. Most schools only require that they be complete by matriculation. My DCOM acceptance is contingent on completion of organic chemistry. Good luck!😀 :luck:
